ZaPow! Working with Girls on the Run of WNC

ZaPow!, a local pop art gallery, is hosting a show called “Girls on the Run.” Named after the Girls on the Run chapter in western North Carolina, the art show features pop art portraits of prominent women, real and fictitious, and paintings that show the values of Girls on the Run.

Girls on the Run is a Charlotte-based organization that provides education and scholarships for girls. The local chapter, Girls on the Run of WNC, has helped 10,000 girls since it formed in 2002.

“Every year around March or April we do a local charity show,” said Lauren Patton, co-founder and creative director of ZaPow! Patton said she didn’t know much about the group until her friend, a board member of Girls on the Run of WNC, suggested she join forces with Girls on the Run.

The show opened March 12 with food and drinks from local businesses. Ten percent of the sales made on opening night were donated to Girls on the Run of WNC.
