The Wilderness Society Hosts Panel Discussion on Wilderness and the Anthropocene

The Wilderness Society hosted a panel discussion about federally designated Wilderness and the anthropocene at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville on April 15.

The panel discussion, led by Southern Appalachian Regional Director Brent Martin, addressed topics surrounding what it means to have Wilderness “where man himself is a visitor who does not remain” in an increasingly small world.

Panelists included Professor Drew Lanham of Clemson University, Professor Catherine Reid of Warren Wilson College, Professor John Lane of Wofford College, and Professor Jennifer Frick-Ruppert of Brevard College.

The panelists shared their thoughts through creative prose and scientific discourse before opening the floor to questions and comments from the audience.

The evening concluded with a raffle and book signing.
