Asheville Tailgate Market Returns

The Asheville Tailgate Market returned to UNC Asheville last Saturday. There, many local businesses lined the streets selling local foods, perfume, soap, local crafts and a variety of other items from the backs of their cars or trucks. People from all around the Asheville area came with their friends, family, children and pets.

“We mostly like to capitalize on local produce, honey and baked goods, but we also have craft vendors who do all sorts of woodworking and fabric craft and other sorts of handmade goods” said Jane Woods, the Market’s assistant manager.

Among these vendors were No Evil Foods, Three Graces Dairy, and Roots and Branches. A string band called Speaking in Tunes entertained market-goers while they shopped. .

“The community that is around this market is really special,” Woods said. “It is a really friendly market. Everybody knows each other and all the farmers are friends and everybody is supportive of one another and it’s just really great for the Asheville community.”

The next tailgate market is scheduled for Saturday April 9 and will continue until late December.
