2016 Asheville Orchid Festival

The 2016 Asheville Orchid Festival is underway at the North Carolina Arboretum from April 14-17.  The orchid cultivators competition is the main attraction of the event.  However, the festival which now in it’s 18th year, also offers orchids for purchase from a dozen local and international vendors.

“This is the biggest show on the East Coast,” said Linda Clemens.  “It’s a little different than in years past since we actually have vendors from New Zealand and other countries here this year.”

Clemens is the tropical plants purveyor for the B.B. Barns gardening company in Asheville, and has attended the festival for the past three years.

“I’ve always loved them, but I’ve gotten more into them now that I’m retired,” said Phyllis Costa who traveled from Greenville S.C. to attend the festival.
