Conference For Writers at Malaprops

On Monday, Feb. 22, Malaprops Bookstore held their second Conference for Writers, following their introductory meeting the month prior.

“The first one was really just an introduction. This one is more getting into the grit of it. To be more specific we will be discussing working with booksellers,” said Paul Bible, leader of the conference. Bible is a local horror and sci-fi writer who writes an entire novel almost every month.

The first conference had over a hundred attendants, the second one was a little less packed but it still managed to fill most of the chairs, according to Bible. The chairs were filled by writers of all types, from novels for more mature audiences to picture books for kids.Lauren, Malaprops’ resident bookseller, explained how to make connections and sell books to local stores.

“There’s a lot of nuance that goes into being a bookseller,” Bible said. “Especially being a successful bookseller and that’s why we’re lucky to have Malaprops here in town.”

The next meeting will be held March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Malaprops.
