The Ca$hevillains Cash Mob group is the latest savvy brainstorm to support unchained and independent business from the Asheville Grown Business Alliance, working with members of the Asheville Downtown Association and Asheville Event Planning and Staffing.
Based on the idea of a flash mob, the ‘Cash Mob’ was originally started in Buffalo, New York, in August 2011 and the movement is rapidly gaining attention all over the USA and internationally.
Ca$hvillains is designed to encourage people to go into small, local businesses and spend their money, “en masse”, to give the business owner a little bit of economic stimulus. Their mission is to help the local economy grow, make people happy, buy quality merchandise from great businesses, have a great time, and grab a drink or some food to celebrate afterward.
At the mob, there are three rules:
- Spend up to $20;
- Meet three people you didn’t know before;
- HAVE FUN!!!
The Ca$hevillains First Strike was the Second Gear outdoor store on Lexington Avenue. Around 30 cash mobbers descended, browsed, bought, socialized and enjoyed themselves thoroughly before heading to Strada Italiano for delicious food and drinks.
