This year’s TedxAsheville (an independently organized TED event), was held in the Diana Wortham Theatre, on Sunday November 13th. The event ran from 1 till 6, in three segments with 2 intermissions designed to allow audience members to “engage” with each other in the atrium while being surrounded by both audio and visual art.
The diverse range of speakers tackled such varied topics as living a simpler life, the importance of helping children find a voice, and the story of the first american to donate an organ to a stranger. There were also talks that focused a meeting of ideas with technology in a discussion of Community Journalism, teaching via internet video chat and using ipad technology to assist with the playing of music.
Interspersed with these talks, were audio/video performances and dance routines by the kids of the Urban Arts Institute.
