As a business who believes that “#selflessactsofcommunity should be encouraged #worldwide” (from their twitter feed), The Hop Ice Cream Cafe is a great supporter of the arts and community in Asheville. On March 22, The Hop on Merrimon hosted an Ice Cream Social for Arts2People, an Asheville non-profit who I am sure also believe that selfless acts of creativity, beauty, community and outreach should be encouraged worldwide, with a focus on Asheville!
One of Arts2People’s main projects over the past few years has been The Asheville Mural Project, a public arts mural project aimed at beautifying and diversifying Asheville’s urban landscape. Local photographer Zen Sutherland has been documenting the Mural Project since its beginning, and his photographs were on exhibit along with original artworks by Kitty Love, Executive Director of Arts2People.
In the warm dusk of a perfect Spring afternoon, locals came to support A2P while indulging in some sweet Hop treats. Free and lively entertainment was provided by The Bloodroot Orkaestarr and an impromptu performance by a wonderful breakdancing boy!
